527 Madison Avenue is pleased to announce an exhibition of paintings by Long Island-based Ukrainian-Armenian painter Armine Bozhko in the Lobby Gallery from October 3 – November 21. 2025. An opening reception will be held on Wednesday, October 15 from 5–7 PM, at 54th Street and Madison Avenue. The show was produced in partnership with George Billis Gallery and is open to the public 9 AM – 5 PM, Monday through Friday.
Bozhko’s paintings explore memory, identity, and emotion through landscapes, seascapes, and natural forms that feel more like reflections of inner experience than literal depictions. Her work moves fluidly between observation and abstraction, using light, color, and texture to express the quiet passage of time and the subtle tension between remembering and being present. Color plays a central role in her process—it is a language through which she conveys atmosphere and feeling, inviting the viewer into a contemplative, sensory dialogue. Drawing on her Ukrainian-Armenian heritage and the diverse environments that have shaped her, Bozhko creates luminous, layered worlds where form and memory intertwine.
Armine Bozhko (b. 1977, Kyiv, Ukraine) graduated from the Republican Art School T.G. Shevchenko and earned her master’s degree in Fine and Decorative Arts from the National Academy of Art and Architecture of Ukraine, where she also completed postgraduate studies. She later studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Jan Matejko in Kraków, Poland, through the Ministry of Culture’s “Gaude Polonia” grant, and served as an assistant to Professor T. Mirzoyan at the Yerevan Art Institute. A member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine and the Union of Artists of Armenia since 2002, Bozhko has exhibited widely across Ukraine, Armenia, Russia, and the United States, with her works held in private collections throughout Europe and North America. Bozhko lives and works in New York and is represented by George Billis Gallery.
